Cowes (SP) Die berühmte 200-Meilen-Segelregatta "Classic Malts Cruise" durch die inneren Hebriden an der schottischen Küste wird wieder im Jahr 2011 veranstaltet: In diesem Jahr will stehen die Feierlichkeiten zum 100. Geburtstag des Clyde Cruising Club’s im Vordergrund. Organisator ist der World Cruising Club, der zum Beispiel auch die ARC, die Atlantik Rallye for Cruisers, veranstaltet.
Die "Classic Malts Cruise" ist ein Segeltörn der besonderen Art: kein rein sportlicher, sondern auch ein sehr genussreicher Trip. Tastings in den berühmten Whisky-Destillerien der inneren Hebriden, einer Inselgruppe an der Nordwestküste Schottlands, bringen die Segler auf die Spur des "gälischen Lebenswassers".

The Malts Cruise programme of free cruising allows crews to sail in company or explore alone with selected rendezvous for social gatherings and events. The rally route offers many options for anchorages and visits ashore, so the free cruising format allows both first time visitors and regular cruisers to make the most of the two weeks.
Following the parade of sail in Oban Bay, the yachts will head northwards up the Sound of Mull to Tobermory, for a organised function ashore. Tobermory is the perfect springing point to round Ardnamurchan Point, the most westerly point of mainland Britain, and to explore the Small Isles, Rhum, Canna and other lochs and anchorages. Continuing to the west coast of Mull, Iona, Coll, Tiree and Colonsay, the fleet will head south for a rendezvous at Jura's famous Loch Tarbert, before sailing the Sound of Islay to Port Ellen.
